STUDENT LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Creating meaningful connections in virtual environments

Brainstorming Virtual Events
I learned that as we navigate virtual events, it is important to make them personal and exciting. Zoom fatigue is very real and an asynchronous event can be a great way to engage a student organization! This event made me excited to plan new events for my orgs.

Giving and Receiving Feedback
I learned about Radical Candor. This means to be more specific and sincere with my praise, and kind and clear with my criticism. Also, to be HIP with my feedback: Humble & helpful; Immediate and in person; and to give private criticism and public praise.

3 Steps to Turn Everyday Get-Togethers into Transformative Gatherings
I learned all about making my get togethers personal and unique. Setting rules for the event like eliminating phones or only telling stories that nobody in the room has heard can help everyone feel more connected. A conversation starter menu is also a great way to allow the conversation to take new routes.
